McDonalds Canada

Team Member

I worked as a team member, primarily working in front of house and drive-thru. I utilised my teamwork skills operating within a fast-paced environment that required constant communication and collaboration to ensure that the running of the restaurant was smooth and orders were promptly served; we regularly ranked as one of the fastest Mcdonald's in the area.

I also developed my communication skills, interacting with hundreds of customers daily, rectifying any issues they had promptly and ensuring they had a great experience.

The two most interesting elements of my time were seeing the culmination of efficient processes at every level, from product manufacturing to distribution to preparation, to ensure that the product and service are consistent across locations and time and the power of brand image and controlling the customer experience in building brand loyalty and driving sales.

Wolseley UK

Digital Implementations Executive

I led a project, providing value to the company by obtaining additional branch information from various sources and integrating internal systems with Yext to provide branches with a consistent online presence.

This position allowed me to implement a number of the skills I had learnt in an academic context in a work environment, including the use of web automation, web scraping, and data analysis to improve the online presence of branches.

I was also able to extend my project management skills by being in charge of the project from start to finish, from devising requirements with stakeholders to implementation to assessing the project's success and ultimately taking full responsibility for both the successes and shortfalls of the project.

The project also allowed me to develop my communication skills by working with stakeholders from across the company, from branch managers to department leads to create requirements, determine and obtain any relevant data already held and obtain or create any additional information.

08/22 - 09/22

Wolseley UK

CRM Analyst

I worked as a CRM Analyst utilizing machine learning and statistical analysis in Python and Alteryx to understand customer spending patterns and improve the customer journey and retention rate.
This position allowed me to implement the skills I had learnt across multiple modules in my computer science course and further develop my data analysis skills.

I learnt Alterxy for the first time, quickly learning how to best utilise the software in conjunction with SQLite databases and python to gain deep insights into the data while learning the field of CRM in relation to data analytics.

One task, in particular, was the segmentation of customers into distinct groups to allow for a more granular look at the customer journey. I used a novel approach, borrowing techniques from natural language processing to create customer description vectors that captured the spending patterns of each customer in a vector, which I used as the input to machine learning segmentation algorithms, namely agglomerative clustering and k-means clustering using python and an SQLite database.

The project culminated with a presentation to the leadership team on the findings of my work; this process developed my presentation skills and provided me with the experience of presenting to senior stakeholders within a company. The feedback that I have received is that I have been able to successfully impart to the leadership team the value of the data they already have and the importance of data analysis in the field of CRM.
