I designed, created, and did all drawings for the website of the pub The Three Cranes. The design language is intended to be both classic and modern with a recurrent visual theme throughout being drawings of cranes in the style of etchings adding a unique visual element to the website. The website can be found here The Three Cranes.
Combining my passions for finance and computer science I will be undertaking a project in the coming year to utilise sentiment analysis and time series forecasting in the domain of stock market prediction as the final project for my degree.
Over the past year I have been studying the scientific literature on the subject and sentiment analysis more widely to build upon my existing knowledge and as part of initial preparations created a draft proposal which I will further refine in the coming months.
During the summer of 2021 I was in charge of a project to collect additional branch data and, using Yext update the online presence of Wolseley branches. Yext allows for a consistent online presence across multiple platform including Google Maps, Google Search, Apple Maps, Yelp and more.
Data was collected from multiple sources including directly from the branches themselves through the use of a questionnaire, other departments within the company and from the web using automated data collection. This data was used to ensure accurate and complete information for the branches across the web including the closing of duplicate or incorrect listings.
To build my understanding and skills in React Native I undertook a project to design and build a drinking game app. I completed all parts of the creation including UI design, asset creation, question writing, and building the app.
I am currently working on a fitness app that utilises React Native and Firebase for the back end. While it is very early in development the app will, when complete, seek to provide a complete suite of fitness tools for users including workout tracking, workout guides, stats, and access to a store for fitness products.
As part of my 2nd year Software Engineering module I was a part of a team of 5 that created a piece of marking software for an internal university client. The software improves the marking experience by creating a specific set of sliders, tick boxes and comments organised by sections for an assignment, allowing for the reuse of comments across multiple students from a comment bank, and utilising machine learning based on the comments, sliders, and tick boxes to suggest a mark for the section ensuring marking is kept consistent across different students.
We utilised the Scrum implementation of the Agile methodology allowing for regular communication with the client, the ability to easily keep track of progress, adapt to the wishes of the client as the vision for the project unfolded, and test elements of the project as they were completed ensuring the project would meet the requirements within the time frame of the project.
